Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
Within our
school, we could do fundraisers. All these donations would go to the planting
of trees within the community. All the trees could be planted around town.
Each year we could set a goal of how many trees to plant. Planting trees are
still the cheapest way of perserving the environment and reducing the amount of
air pollution each year. All these trees would be planted on Earth Day.
Also we could send some of the money raised to animal
shelters that are for endangered animals. This would help with the preservation
of a species of animals.
In our school we could also
raise awareness for things that cause air pollution. Simple things like turing
off lights in unused classrooms, shutting down computers, and pulling out plugs
for unused electronics. In the schools, there is often a huge waste of paper.
All printing should be double sided and lighter on the black ink, something
closer to grey. When single-sided paper is printed, the other side should be
used for other things.
Non-Governmental Organizations for Donations:
1. Rainforest Alliance
2. The Nature Conservancy
3. International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)
4. Rainforest Action Network (RAN)
5. World Wildlife Fund (WWF)
6. Green Press Initiative
7. GreenBlue
8. Clinton Climate Institute
9. Green Peace
10. Natural Resources Defence Council (NRDC)
Each year we could send our donations to one of the organizations mentioned above. The reciveing organization can be selected through popular vote or a yearly rotating cycle. Thi way we as a school can help multiple different aspects of the Environmental crisis we face to help find a solution that is eco-friendly.
